Plush but well-defined, the 2019 Vosne-Romanée Les Petits-Monts 1er Cru has plenty of red berry fruit on the expansive nose and just a hint of wilted rose petal that comes forth with aeration. There is lovely detail here. The palate is medium-bodied with a smooth texture, fine weight and well-integrated oak that needs a few more month to be fully assimilated. There's a crescendo of flavors that is entrancing, whilst all the time maintaining composure and mineralité. Superb. Chapeau, Amélie Berthaut. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
Deep concentrated magenta to purple colour. A powerful fresh youthful perfume too. There is energy and class, just the right use of quality oak, and a long seamless finish. This will require a few years of building but the class is very clearly there. There is a very slight reduction in the darker fruit profile. Drink from 2028-2035.
