Klip Kop is an east-facing, mid-slope vineyard at 240 metres on the classic granite soils of the Paardeberg. Concrete fermented and aged, it has alluring fynbos aromas, lots of energy and focus, tangy acidity and layers of quince, fennel, green apple and dried herbs. Drink 2024-30.
A 0.6 ha site planted in 1966 on a rocky, exposed granite outcrop. Just-ripe peach, stem ginger and lemon barley water sparring with gentle herbal tones too - one almost gets a sense of the bands of endemic wild herbs and scrub known as fynbos that surround the vineyard, with a little juicy lime, and a palate the builds in the mouth, finishing with flaky sea salt and wet stones. Less than 1,500 bottles produced.
