The 2015 Barolo Rocche Rivera is a powerful, wild wine. Game, smoke, iron, tobacco and grilled herb notes, along with the wine's rather coarse tannins, all amplify an impression of rusticity that runs through this potent, tannic Barolo. I would give the 2015 at least a few years in bottle to come together, but I imagine it will always be a bit rough around the edges.
Castiglione Falletto. Tasted blind. Mid ruby with orange tinges. Herbal nose that is a little reductive. Supple and aromatic cherry fruit with lots of grainy tannins. The fruit seems ready, while the tannins demand more time.
