**Note: from a .3 ha parcel replanted in 1985**
Here too the wood influence is far from subtle but even so it manages to avoid dominating the naturally spicy red currant, plum and violet suffused aromas. There is also a mild touch of toast on the detailed and solidly concentrated and well-detailed flavors that possess a controlled sense of power on the focused, linear and impressively persistent finish. This moderately structured effort should also reward 12 to 15 years of cellar time and while it is definitely toastier than I prefer, it is flat out gorgeously long.
The 2010 Grands-Echezeaux is weightless and impeccable. Subtlety and elegance are the backbone of this beautifully balanced Grands-Echezeaux. Dark cherries, blackberries, spices, licorice and tar all flow through effortlessly to the inviting, seamless finish. Despite its deceptively medium-bodied personality, the wine has plenty of depth, not to mention terrific overall balance. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2030.

Here too the wood is far from subtle but even so it seems somewhat better integrated than with the prior two wines and this permits the naturally spicy red currant, plum and violet suffused aromas to express themselves more clearly. There is also a mild touch of toast on the detailed and solidly concentrated and well-detailed flavors that possess a controlled sense of power on the focused, linear and impressively persistent finish. This moderately structured effort should also reward 12 to 15 years of cellar time.
